Operational data
Server logs, error reports, and aggregate page views. Used to keep the publication running.
We collect three categories of data, each with a published reason. We do not collect anything that falls outside the three categories.
Server logs, error reports, and aggregate page views. Used to keep the publication running.
Corrections, evidence, methodology questions, and editorial enquiries. Used to respond to the message.
Email addresses that explicitly subscribe to a publication update. Used to send the update.
Three things the desk does not collect, even where collection is technically possible.
We do not track readers across sites, build reader profiles, or share reader identifiers with advertising partners beyond the page-load ad slot.
We do not request, store, or process any reader's fantasy-platform credentials. Where a reader sends a case file with credentials, we ask the reader to redact them.
We do not sell reader identifiers or aggregate reader behaviour to third parties. Where third-party analytics are used, the data is owned by the third party under their privacy terms.
Each data category has a published retention window. After the window expires, the data is deleted. Readers can request earlier deletion at any time.
| Data category | Retention window | Earlier deletion |
|---|---|---|
| Operational logs | 90 days | On request |
| Reader submissions | Until resolved, then 12 months | On request |
| Email subscriptions | Until unsubscribe | One-click unsubscribe link in every email |
This site uses a small number of cookies, all in service of keeping the publication running. The cookies are not used for cross-site tracking.
You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings without losing access to the publication.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, port, or delete the data this desk holds about you. The desk honours those requests within the local statutory window.
This site collects only the analytics and contact-form data needed to operate the desk. We do not sell reader data, run third-party advertising trackers, or share contact-form submissions with operators. If you submit a contact-form message, only the editorial team sees it.
For full details — retention windows, third-party processors, and your rights as a reader — read the full privacy policy. If you have a question that the policy does not answer, the contact page lists the routes for reaching the desk.
The site uses first-party analytics only. We count page views, referrer sources, and rough geographic regions (country-level, not city-level). We do not use third-party advertising trackers, fingerprinting, or cross-site behavioural profiling. The analytics data we collect is held for 24 months and is reviewed in aggregate, not per-reader.
If you submit a contact-form message, the message itself is held for the duration of the editorial follow-up and then archived in a private editorial backup. We do not share contact-form submissions with operators or marketing partners. If you want a contact-form submission deleted, write in via the contact page and the desk will action the request.
